About

About Our Research.

We are students from Dwi Emas International School in Malaysia, on a Global Perspectives project about traditions, culture, and identity. Our survey with 158 participants revealed valuable insights into their knowledge of their own cultures. In this website, we'll highlight the significance of cultural traditions, explore challenges in preservation, and advocate for cultural appreciation.

By sharing practical strategies and successful case studies, we aspire to encourage active preservation efforts and a deeper understanding of cultural heritage among individuals and communities alike.

What info did we gather?

How much people knew about their own culture

It's always good to know how much knowledge one has in a topic when discussing it!

We asked participants to rate on a scale of 1 - 10 how much they are in the know of their own culture. Most answers were 5 and 8, with the average being 6.34

What people would like to learn more about their own culture.

There's always things we don't know. It's never too late to learn!

Most respondents of the survey are more interested to learn more about their culture's history, food, language, folklore/mythology and tradition/lifestyle. The least likely being games

Answer: Yes

"I think the idea that filial piety is applicable under all circumstances is pretty outdated."

"As much as culture can be preserved, it can also be reformed according to current issues in the world."

Answer: No

“No, I always believe in the trust of God and respecting one's culture is extremely important and valuable”

How can we preserve our culture?

Our cultural heritage is essential for who we are, and it's not just about personal pride; it's a shared responsibility. We aim to empower you with practical ways to protect our traditions, values, and wisdom, passing them on to the next generations. Let's celebrate our diversity and ensure our cultural identity remains a guiding light for the years ahead.

1) Spread the word

Tell your friends and family about your culture. Share the experience and the joy of celebrating together. It can even let you meet more people, broadening your connections. You can also feel more deeply connected to your ancestors.

2) Experience it

There's no better way than to participate in your culture to feel more comfortable with it. It can be just as simple as cooking a traditional dish to reward yourself. Or if you are determined, you can participate in classes that teaches you the tradition of your culture (e.g dance classes, language classes e.t.c)

3) Research, research, research

With today's access to technology, searching for anything is never easier. Read articles,  read blogs, follow news websites, read a book, the possibilities are endless. Your curiosity is the only limit.
